JESSAMYN ANDERSON, soprano

After an unexpectedly brief stint in New York City, Indiana native Jessamyn Anderson now resides in Nashville, TN where she pursues her love of storytelling with song. With a songbook ranging from Puccini to Cole Porter to Jason Robert Brown, she finds almost as much joy in soaring high notes as she does in making people laugh. She made her professional debut with the Indiana Wind Symphony and has performed with the ensemble for seven seasons. Jessamyn found her perfect balance with the Ohio Light Opera Company, and her credits with OLO include Baroness Elly (The Little Dutch Girl), Lilli and Maria Ziegler cover (The Dancing Years), Claudine (Can-Can), Constance Appleton (Oh, Kay!) and chorus roles in eight shows, her favorites being Brigadoon, Annie Get Your Gun, and Kiss Me, Kate. She continued her operetta career as a member of the Victor Herbert Renaissance Project in New York City. Jessamyn graduated cum laude from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with a BM in vocal performance. During her senior year, she starred in IU Opera Theater’s production of South Pacific and was heralded as “all of the ‘cock-eyed optimist’ of a Nellie Forbush that you could wish for.” Her other IU Opera Theater credits include Cousin Hebe (H.M.S. Pinafore), and Margot (The Merry Widow). Some of Jessamyn’s other favorite roles include Mrs. Dolly Levi Hello, Dolly!), Aunt Eller (Oklahoma!), and Judy (I Married an Angel), a role that earned her Indianapolis Encore Award nominations for best female vocalist and best supporting actress.
